November 1, 2006 - Year In Review
With the launch of our blog back in December of 2005, we've neglected to keep this Studio News page updated. To make up for it, here is a bit of a year in review, featuring a few of the highlights:
-- In January of 2006, PGDA Vice President and FSD Creative Director Robert Wurth began discussions with other PGDA members the possibility of repositioning and rebranding the organization with a new name that was more inviting, more international, and more distinctive. Following a lengthy brainstorming and evaluation process, the PGDA was officially renamed Proscodi - the Professional Society of Communication Design.
-- Robert Wurth also developed a preliminary logo for Proscodi to serve until the group chooses a more formal branding process:
-- During the Summer of 2006, Freshly Squeezed Design created a new web site for Goldenrod Printing.
-- Also during the Summer of 2006, Freshly Squeezed Design developed a redesigned logo and other graphics for QuiltIndex.com, a quilt portal. Read the full Press Release.
-- In the late Summer of 2006, Freshly Squeezed Design was selected to create the branding for a new gaming / hobby store in the Denver area (more details of this project will be posted later).
October 11, 2005 - PGDA
Freshly Squeezed Design Creative Director Robert Wurth was recently elected Vice President of a new international graphic design organization, the Professional Graphic Design Association (PGDA).
The mission of the PGDA is to establish a code of ethics, standards and professional practices within the graphic design industry. The focus of the PGDA will be on the buyers of creative services (clients). In this way, the PGDA hopes to compliment and cooperate with existing, designer-focused organizations and help to create better working relationships between clients and creatives.
Learn more about the PGDA by visting the offical PGDA blog.
August 27, 2005 - Podcast
Robert Wurth was invited to participate in a podcast discussion with interactive designer Chris Gee. This hour and a half long discussion follows the controversy surrounding a well-known logo design company and allegedly stolen logo designs. Robert and Chris used this situation as an opportunity to explore how the design industry might use this experience to create improved relationships with clients.
Chris Gee is the co-CEO and Creative Director of Cube Interactive, based out of New York City, and the full podcast between Chris and Robert can be downloaded (in MP3 format) from Chris's design blog, The Prepared Mind.
March 30, 2005 - 1000 Words
Freshly Squeezed Design was recently selected to create and identity for a new Lincoln, Nebraska framing studio. Freshly Squeezed Design established the name 1000 Words Framing Studio, which captured the client's desires and expectations for her business. A logo, web site and company identity materials were also developed. Read more in the full Press Release.
